Backup, restore and recovery

Backup strategies shouldn't be designed to fit available backup resources and time, but the other way round, and disaster recovery plans have to be taken into account. These plans should be defined before the backup strategies.

Export and data pump tools shouldn't be used as backup tools. Although they may allow us to do a restore back to the backup time, they do not allow us to recover all the information up to a particular moment, which means that transactions -and, as a consequence, data- may be lost.
